Lediscan: a hand held device to detect and treat cervical precancerous lesions

PROBLEM

There is a global need for a cervical cancer screening test that is cheap, accessible, quick and easily linked to treatment, one that does not require specialists.

SOLUTION

Lediscan is a diagnostic and therapeutic device that leverages machine learning to optimize the diagnostic accuracy of the visual inspection with acetic acid technique in order to identify cervical precancerous lesions and lesions suspicious for cancer. The identified lesions are then treated instantly using thermoablation in the same vaginal examination.

VALUE/BENEFIT

Lediscan is a low-cost, hand-held, point-of-care device to “test & treat” cervical pre- cancer in the same gynecological exam. – Lediscan eliminates the loss of patients to followup which occurs in up to 60% of cases with the current standard of care in which treatment is not coupled with diagnosis.
